The nape

A Pure Titan’s body ignores swords, axes, and fists. You kill it through the nape, at the back of its neck.

The nape

• One hit with a loaded ODM blade on the nape kills it, and the screen shows “Critical hit! Titan’s nape destroyed!” With any other weapon, the screen shows “Use an ultrahard steel blade to cut the nape!”
• Not from the front: the cut fails if you stand in front of the Titan. Come from behind or the sides, or bring it down first (a fallen Titan can be cut from any side).
• A Thunder Spear or a cannon shell that blows up on the nape kills it.
• The Anti-Titan Rifle kills it with a shot on the nape, an eye, or the head, and blows its head off.
• You cannot hit the nape of the Titan you ride.

Each kill with a blade gives ODM skill XP.

The eyes

A hit in the eye blinds it for 5 seconds: it stops, forgets its target, and lets go of whoever it holds. The screen shows “Critical hit! Titan’s eye damaged - stunned for 5 seconds!” Then it cannot be blinded again for 10 seconds.

• A melee hit needs at least 6 damage (“You need a stronger weapon to hit the eyes!”). Arrows, bullets, and explosions always count.
• The Marleyan Rifle and the Musket can blind; the Flintlock and the Mauser cannot.
• The Abnormal, the Crawling Abnormal, and the Ogre Titan have no eyes to aim at. The Crawler Titan’s eye cannot be hurt.

The limbs

Blade slashes can cut a leg, an arm, or a heel:

On Hard and Hell difficulty, cutting a limb needs a charged slash (see Difficulty).

Note

A dead Titan’s body disappears after 10 seconds, unless the server keeps the bodies (see Settings).
